Horseback to the Mayan Ruins of Xunantunich, picnic along the banks of the river and watch the sunset from the top of a Mayan temple.

You will begin your journey at Hanna Stables, nestled within 400 acres of lush, green farmland. From there, you will make your way on horseback to the majestic site Xunantunich, where you will explore ancient ruins, including Mayan temples, with your personal guide.

Next, you will take in the sights and smells of the tropical rainforest as you picnic along the banks of the Mopan River before you meander back to your resort.

Travel across the Guatemalan border, to Yaxha National Park. Enjoy a visit of this lesser visited, atmospheric site. You may encounter howler and spider monkeys as well as many colorful tropical birds and other mammals in this area, which is rich with wildlife. Drinks are enjoyed at the end of the tour atop the main temple, with views over the surrounding rainforest and nearby Lake Yaxha.

Begin with a one-mile trek through subtropical trails, wade across a shallow portion of the river, and pass through two caves before reaching a stunning lagoon surrounded by steep limestone walls. Float on an inner tube along the cool waters, illuminated by your headlamp. Plunge into darkness and listen to the sounds of the cascading waterfalls and bubbling rapids.

Upon exiting the caves, continue floating along the jungle-lined river before returning to the starting point. The adventure continues as zip lining takes you soaring through the subtropical jungle canopy from treetop to treetop, giving you a bird’s-eye view of the rainforest below. A thrilling adventure, there are five runs at heights ranging up to 80 feet. The trip culminates in rappelling down the last tree to the ground for that final adrenaline rush.

The Actun Tunichil Muknal Cave, also known as the ATM Cave, is ranked as one of the Top Ten Caves of the World by National Geographic. This cave is one of the most popular Mayan burial sites in Western Belize. The cave contains four skeletons, ceramics, and stoneware left by the Maya. The most famous skeleton inside the cave is that of a young girl, the bones of which have been completely covered by the natural processes of the cave, leaving them with a sparkling appearance. The cave itself is several kilometers long with several chambers. ATM Cave is only recommended for those of an adventurous spirit who have a good level of fitness. The adventure includes walking, crossing rivers, caving and the rewards are worth it.
