Situated high on the Vaca Plateau deep in the Chiquibul Forest Reserve, Caracol is the most extensive Mayan site in Belize and was only re-discovered as recently as 1936. The site of Caracol covers over 80 square miles with 30,000 structures and at its peak supported a population of more than 150,000.

At the heart of the site lies the massive pyramid of Caana (Sky Palace) which is now almost fully restored and reaches a height of over 135 feet. From the top you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the forest-clad mountains. The sprawling site contains huge ceiba, mahogany and sapodilla trees and is superb for birding (the rare Keel-billed Motmot is a resident of the site). Wildlife such as howler and spider monkeys, Oscillated Turkey, coatimundi, gibnut and grey fox are often sighted while quietly wandering along the site’s causeways or along trails connecting the plaza groups.

After a gourmet picnic lunch, we drive back towards the Lodge, stopping at the Rio Frio Cave, and finishing our tour at the Rio On Pools, just as you are ready for a wonderful dip in the cooling pools of the Rio On.

Travel into the past as you explore the famous Actun Tunichil Muknal Cave.

The Actun Tunichil Muknal Cave, also known as the ATM Cave, is ranked as one of the Top Ten Caves of the World by National Geographic. This cave is one of the most popular Mayan burial sites in Western Belize. The cave contains four skeletons, ceramics, and stoneware left by the Maya. The most famous skeleton inside the cave is that of a young girl, the bones of which have been completely covered by the natural processes of the cave, leaving them with a sparkling appearance. The cave itself is several kilometers long with several chambers. ATM Cave is only recommended for those of an adventurous spirit who have a good level of fitness. The adventure includes walking, crossing rivers, and caving, but the rewards are worth it.

Experience the great Blue Hole by air.

Depart from the jungle by helicopter and experience the great Blue Hole by air, en route to a private island.

As you fly over the crystal blue waters of the Caribbean Sea, keep your eyes open as you may be one of the lucky few who get to see sharks, dolphins, stingrays, manatees or crocodiles along the way. You will then fly over the Lighthouse Reef Atoll, heading to the great Blue Hole. As you travel across this spectacular hole, you will be dazzled by its size and color. The Blue Hole is the largest ocean sinkhole in the world, created by a collapsed underground cavern, hence giving the appearance of a dark blue circle amidst the turquoise sea. The Blue Hole measures 1,000 feet in diameter and 460 feet in depth.

Snorkel, fish, and relax.

Snorkel, fish, and relax on this royal escapade aboard a luxury private yacht.

Start the day by free diving for conchs and looking for starfish. Afterwards, cruise towards the reef, where you can stop for snorkeling or find a good spot for fishing. While fishing, your guide will clean your conchs and prepare your ceviche. Then, head out to the Marine parks Hol Chan and Shark Ray Alley, where you can see our colorful fishes, turtles, green morays, different types of stingrays and nurse sharks. After your snorkeling adventure. snacks and a picnic lunch will be served along with your freshly caught Conch Ceviche. Head back to paradise where your favorite drink will be waiting for you at the dock!
