Attraction: Cyrus Avery Route 66 Memorial Bridge

The Cyrus Avery Route 66 Memorial Bridge, originally known as the 11th Street Bridge, is a historic landmark in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Completed in 1915, it was the first bridge to carry automobiles across the Arkansas River and played a pivotal role in the establishment of Route 66. The bridge was expanded in 1934 but closed to traffic in 1980 and pedestrians in 2008 due to structural issues. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1996 and renamed in honour of Cyrus Avery, a key figure in Route 66’s creation. Today, it stands as a testament to the Mother Road’s history, adjacent to the Cyrus Avery Centennial Plaza.
